An example of fierce mental toughness……
Two NFL head coaches when asked how a last minute change to his team’s bye week would impact his team going into the next game:
Coach #1-
“Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.”
Coach #2-
“WE. DO. NOT. CARE.”
This level of fierce mental toughness is surprisingly not all that common even in sports and even less common outside of sports.
In the examples above one head coach welcomes adversity and does not allow it to change any part of his teams winning mindset.
The other, although I did not include his word for word response, explained why it’s a bigger deal than people think and all the adjustments they need to make in order to prepare for the last minute change. Technically there was nothing all that wrong with his response but he expressed how much he had allowed it to creep into his head and I am sure that trickled down to his team. Not a good idea.
The core concept is clear, welcoming adversity builds mental toughness.
It’s not a complicated idea. A tough minded man relentlessly gets things done and does not allow any difficulty to stand in his way of achieving his mission…..whatever that mission may be.
Fierce mental toughness will serve you well.
Onward!
BTW…..the WE. DO. NOT. CARE. coach is Steelers coach Mike Tomlin. They are currently 6-0 to start the 2020 NFL season.
