We don’t live an easy life because we don’t want an easy life. Growth comes from overcoming adversity. Therefore, we don’t buy gear built for easy. We buy gear built for hard. We bet you agree. Below you will find some of the gear we consider to be hard-nosed, hard-working products for a fair price. Let us know how we are doing in that regard.
Today’s journal entry includes:
a reliable ax(26 IN. WOODEN HANDLE MULTI-PURPOSE AXE by HUSQVARNA)
a rugged knife (Benchmade – Griptilian 551 Knife)
a versatile grill (The Daniel Boone by Green Mountain Grills)
26 IN. WOODEN HANDLE MULTI-PURPOSE AXE by HUSQVARNA
The 26″ wooden handle multi-purpose axe by Husqvarna walks the line between beauty and strength. It swings with balance and heft but also looks really nice mounted on the wall of the shop. A sturdy and reliable 2 lb. head weight places this axe squarely in the mid-size category but you will feel like you own the only axe you will ever need. Usually around 70 bucks.

Benchmade – Griptilian 551 Knife
So many knives. So many opinions. So many uses. How are we supposed to decide which knife is going to become our highly coveted everyday carry knife? One solution is to go straight to the experts and listen to what they have to say. That’s exactly what we did with the Griptilian 551 by Benchmade. When you look around at knives and see statements like….”best folding knife I’ve ever owned” and “there are cheaper knives out there, but the quality won’t come even close to the Griptilian”…..you know you’re on to something. With features like Benchmade’s Axis Locking Feature, 154CM steel blade, and tough glass-filled nylon handle I can see why this knife is owned by just about every knife enthusiast. Usually around a hundred bucks.

When it comes to choosing the right grill we may feel like we only have the run of the mill grills at the big box retailers to choose from. Not true. In just about every town across the U.S. there are small, independent grill dealers that are not only happy to sell you the right grill but also offer their expertise and experience so you know you are getting the best value. For the way I like to grill the last thing I want is an underpowered name brand grill that I have to replace every couple of years. These days we have some serious grills to choose from and near the top of the heap is Green Mountain Grills. I don’t own one of these grills yet but the Daniel Boone is going to be my next grill and you can take that to the bank. I have done the research and these guys make the best grills for the money hands down. There are a ton of features on the Daniel Boone model but the digital controller and the fact that it is a pellet system have me sold. You can check out the specs and such using the links below but for around five hundred bucks you will not find a better value. If you do I would love to hear about it.
